week 28

summer vacation is here! yay. am super glad to not be around students for a while. am looking forward to being able to get things done around the house before the big day arrives. have been busy this week organizing and cleaning already. went to the doctor last week...144.5 pounds. total gained: 14.5 pounds. ugh. i know that i'm in a normal range, but many typically easy things are getting harder to perform as i get bigger...like putting on shoes, shaving my legs, getting out of the car! current measurements: around the belly button = 35 in, around the belly itself = 37.5 in. "steve" (as we've taken to calling it - it's a decoy name) has turned into alien baby....my tummy turns into a bubbling volcano as s/he twists, kicks, and turns inside. s/he's about 2.5 pounds and about 10 inches long from crown to rump. no wonder it feels like a volcano in there...not much room for 10 inches of baby! my only "complaint" is that my belly button is sore...who knew how sensitive it would be...it even looks like there's a little bit of a bruise around it where it's stretching. it's not quite an outtie yet...but is on it's way!

Going away party for Sieben

Went to Sonora last weekend to say goodbye to my former high school band director, Pat Sieben. After 24 years in Sonora, he's moving to Kansas. Got to spend some time with some old friends Yvonne, Kim, Tobin, and my mom too. Had a great time. Hope you enjoy the pics.
PS. the tummy is at 26 weeks already!

lincoln baby shower

thanks to carrie, sonia, and mary for putting together such a lovely (albeit short) shower. our 30 minute lunch goes way too quickly when you're having fun. i was frantically trying to open presents while people were there to see and got all sweaty in the meantime! thanks again to all that came and were so generous toward our family. for more photos, go to http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLandingSignin.jsp?Uc=b2h0app.cr2bsbep&Uy=no8a1y&Upost_signin=Slideshow.jsp%3Fmode%3Dfromshare&Ux=0 and click "view slideshow".

week 24 - the vanishing belly button

here are some self portraits i took yesterday with the automatic timer! this has become my typical evening/weekend wear...tank top and stretchy skirt. nice and comfy. the weather's been getting hotter this week. yesterday was mid-80's but it cooled off nicely in the evening so sleeping wasn't a problem. still getting up at least once but usually twice a night for the obligatory bathroom break. getting harder and harder to get out of bed...and soooo wishing i was allowed to sleep on my back. i miss that a lot. overall, am feeling pretty good. a bit tired some days more than others, but no sickness at all any more and no weird food cravings. baby has been moving around A LOT over the past week. so that's been an adjustment. i'm sure it only gets worse the bigger it gets in there! no word on when our next ultrasound will be, so we've resigned ourselves to not know the sex of the baby until the birth. if we happen to find out, great....if not, that's great too. thankfully, there are only 13 more school days and it's a 3 day weekend so i'm looking forward to lots of eating and relaxing. yay.

23 weeks - end of the 6th month? more like the 5th

No one ever tells you that for medical purposes, you are "technically" pregnant for 10 months. It's weird that they start counting the date of your last period when you obviously aren't pregnant for the first 2 weeks or so...but whatever. I went to the doc yesterday and she said..."You're at the end of the 6th month!" Well, yeah, I guess. More like the baby is 5 months old. Got to hear the heartbeat again and was measured from my belly button to my pelvic bone...23 cm. Normal for 23 weeks. Dr. Truneh says that you grow one centimeter for every week you're pregnant. Gained another 4 pounds...so that's 10 total so far. Not bad. The "healthy" range is between 4-6 per month. So I'm glad that I am on the lower end this month as last month I had gained 6. Current weight: 140.

Overall, I'm doing well. People at work are telling me how I have "the glow." Only 4 weeks of school left (18 days to be exact..not that I'm counting!) Am looking forward to spending time at home getting things ready....and relaxing...and working out a little bit more. Been crocheting lately. I have 3 pregnant friends right now (Robin, Carrie, and Radhia) so am working on some crafts for them and their impending babies. Jimmeh's busy with work and school. And we've been glued to the Hockey Finals for the past month.
