here are some self portraits i took yesterday with the automatic timer! this has become my typical evening/weekend wear...tank top and stretchy skirt. nice and comfy. the weather's been getting hotter this week. yesterday was mid-80's but it cooled off nicely in the evening so sleeping wasn't a problem. still getting up at least once but usually twice a night for the obligatory bathroom break. getting harder and harder to get out of bed...and soooo wishing i was allowed to sleep on my back. i miss that a lot. overall, am feeling pretty good. a bit tired some days more than others, but no sickness at all any more and no weird food cravings. baby has been moving around A LOT over the past week. so that's been an adjustment. i'm sure it only gets worse the bigger it gets in there! no word on when our next ultrasound will be, so we've resigned ourselves to not know the sex of the baby until the birth. if we happen to find out, great....if not, that's great too. thankfully, there are only 13 more school days and it's a 3 day weekend so i'm looking forward to lots of eating and relaxing. yay.

23 weeks - end of the 6th month? more like the 5th
No one ever tells you that for medical purposes, you are "technically" pregnant for 10 months. It's weird that they start counting the date of your last period when you obviously aren't pregnant for the first 2 weeks or so...but whatever. I went to the doc yesterday and she said..."You're at the end of the 6th month!" Well, yeah, I guess. More like the baby is 5 months old. Got to hear the heartbeat again and was measured from my belly button to my pelvic bone...23 cm. Normal for 23 weeks. Dr. Truneh says that you grow one centimeter for every week you're pregnant. Gained another 4 pounds...so that's 10 total so far. Not bad. The "healthy" range is between 4-6 per month. So I'm glad that I am on the lower end this month as last month I had gained 6. Current weight: 140.
Overall, I'm doing well. People at work are telling me how I have "the glow." Only 4 weeks of school left (18 days to be exact..not that I'm counting!) Am looking forward to spending time at home getting things ready....and relaxing...and working out a little bit more. Been crocheting lately. I have 3 pregnant friends right now (Robin, Carrie, and Radhia) so am working on some crafts for them and their impending babies. Jimmeh's busy with work and school. And we've been glued to the Hockey Finals for the past month.

halfway there! 21 weeks
can't believe that i'm half done. it feels like it's gone so fast, and yet at the same time, seems like there's still a long way to go. have days of feeling really tubby and other days of feeling pretty good. it's a strange thing to watch yourself get fat. the happy news is that the baby has been super active since around easter. started as a little bit of pressure or a flutter and now i can see my tummy move! mostly, the baby is up around 3am when i get up to use the bathroom, but it hasn't woken me up yet. only 5 weeks of school left and am looking forward to not having to dress up for school anymore. what a pain!

it's really true
so i had read about how when you become pregnant that your belly sort of becomes public domain. luckily, i've only had a couple of people (that i like) touch my belly so far, but crap...sure have been getting lots of unsolicited advice/opinions about my pregnancy from others. i don't mind it so much from my friends, but as a teacher, there are a lot of other teachers that i'm just acquaintances with that i could really do without them knowing i'm pregnant because they say the stupidest things. if only.
and if i had a dollar every time someone asked me "how are you feeling today?" this child would have a college education paid for before it was born. i hear this at least 5 times a day. geez.
is this what they mean by pregnancy hormones running rampant?

no sex yet
so, went to the radiologist yesterday for the anatomy ultrasound....and we're still not sure what the sex is. the baby was sleeping really soundly in a tight fetal position and so we couldn't really see what was going on "down there." the radiologist told us what she thought the baby's sex was, but until we know more definitively, we're going to keep our mouths shut! i go to the OB today for a check up and will ask her if we will have another ultrasound at a later date. sorry to keep you all in suspense....but you'll have to wait!
