sprinkles for twinkles

chloe is on the verge of talking! she's been practicing by herself in her crib, around the house, and outside when she thinks that we're not watching. whereas last week she was all about "yes", this week is all "no." great. she also is working on cat, mama, dada and pretty much tries to mimic most 1 syllable words. it's been in the 90's the past 2 days, so we've been spending a lot of time in the back yard and in the water. chloe is currently enjoying the water sprinkler as you can see. she's also been working on jumping and shrugging her shoulders and tip toes. she is such a happy girl and has such a silly, loving personality too.

in other news, after 5 years indoors, we have decided to start letting the cats outside again. lois is getting on in her years and i was feeling like it might be a nice treat in her twilight years to be able to bask in the sun and eat grass. she had to be carried out, but immediately enjoyed the grassy smorgasbord that is our lawn. olive saw us let lois out and was instantly jealous and wanted out too. needless to say, i think that they are enjoying exploring the fresh air. lois gets scared easily and comes in, but olive is mostly outside in the day hours. twerp is super jealous, but we haven't a collar for her yet and are quite unsure how she'll fare as she's never been outside before.

additionally, my foot still hurts. i have a physical therapy appointment this week to start working on some exercises, but in the meantime, it's still sore and swollen and is frustrating. i know that eventually it'll be better and it's really only been about 8 weeks, but i'm totally ready to not think about it anymore!! :)

Easter and Snails

This is a guest blog by Uncle Krabs... I love my niece Chloe and obviously think she is the greatest-- so i took a bunch of pictures. After an initial bout of "stranger danger" (apparently i interupted bathtime with mom) little twinkles was a delight. Her laugh is infectious and she seems to be on the verge of talking... and talking a lot. I also discovered she really likes snails, which led to all sorts of fun in the front yard. Plenty of pictures with a snail crawling all over her arm, which she found to be hilarious.

We also celebrated easter and Grandpops birthday with an egg hunt and some birthday cake. Needless to say, Chloe loves cookies and cake -- although with that much sugar, a little meltdown was expected.

New to me was Chloe's little scowl. At first i thought she as actually angry, but if you scowl back, she'll laugh. Another fun game for Twinkles and Krabs.

A great way to spend a weekend, i can't wait to visit again.

18 months going on 12

18 month appointment yesterday. 26 pounds (75th percentile) 33 inches tall (85th%) 47 cm head circumference. she's not quite speaking as of yet, but ANY day now. her go to words are "yes" or "at" if you ask her a question. she likes to back her butt up to things and sit on them and still is a hugger of strangers' children whether they like it or not. haven't been to the park as much as i would like given the fact that my foot is still sore. xrays tomorrow to see how the progress is. she is working on 6 new teeth too which has made it a bit challenging at times. she loves being outside and the weather has been rather nice the past couple of days to be in the pool. still loves wearing other peoples' shoes and has discovered kate's duck.
