foots and hats

so, i broke my foot. on dave's birthday. the day the fireplace was installed. crap. i'm on crutches and trying to be a teacher and hobble up and down the stairs at home. it's insane. i was carrying chloe down the stairs and either missed or slipped on the last 2 steps. it all happened so fast that i didn't even know what was happening until i was on my ass. thankfully, chloe was fine; a little shook up and spooked about going down the stairs for a couple of days, but not a scratch. dave is being a saint and taking care of me very well. the swelling has gone down considerably since this photo, but it's still sore and has now entered the black & blue phase of healing. i've also been busy making hats. if you or anyone wants one they are $20 each or 2 for $35. They are made out of a yummy acrylic yarn that is super warm and is machine washable/dryable.

On to the good stuff...chloe is still hilarious and sweet. trying to talk and is quite good at pointing out things in her books if you ask her "where is the ....?" she can almost say "snake", sounds more like "nnnaaaaaaeeee". she also likes to roar like a lion and hoo hoo like an owl. super cute. more and more personality every day comes through. she loves her shoes and especially likes to wear her red boots that are 2 sizes too big...i call her frankenstein when she wears them because she's so clompy! she also had her first outing with daddy, grandpa stan, and grandma kerry to the park last weekend while i stayed home and crutched around. she loves the curly slide and the bouncy boats of course and prefers to walk there, but ride home. smart girl.

18 months

chloe is still obsessed with dogs. see the "dog show" photo. she likes to point at mom and dad and airplanes in the sky.

she's learning how to eat with a spoon and prefers to use mom's utensils rather than her own. i've been putting food in a baby food jar and that works ok for a little while until she decides to shove her hand inside. she's loves dad's chili and oranges are her newest fruit obsession.

she also enjoys wearing other people's shoes although mom's slippers are a favorite as they are light enough for her to maneuver.

sometimes she has
awesome hair as in the photos from the other morning. future punk rocker or what?

she also is starting to fluctuate between wanting to wear everything and nothing. i came home the other day and she was wearing this;

apparently picked out herself. much better than yesterday when she had on her green dinosaur jammies, pink polka dot legwarmers, red boots 2 sizes too big, and her winter sweater. luckily, we just were in the backyard!

the last time the remote worked. coincidence?

chloe's first successful coloring attempts this past weekend and today's trip to the park; a study in pink and green. know that she walks all the way from our front door, down the street, and across the lawn to get to the park. those of you who know that route...it's FAR for a 16 month old...but she loves it.

boots!

chloe loves my boots. my favorite things: watching her run down the hallway with just the arms of her jammies on and the feet trailing behind her like a cape; her wrapping her arms around my leg and squeezing; her little lips when she wants a kiss (only wish she'd close them!); her shoulder shrugs and big smile when i come home from work; watching her play with dave; her dancing whenever and wherever she hears music (home, the car, the store); handing her a stuffed animal and watching her give it a big hug.
